FEDERAL & TITLE PROGRAMS

TITLE I -  Title I is a federal program under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This program provides financial assistance to schools with high percentages of students from low-income families to help ensure all students meet challenging academic standards.

TITLE III-  The purpose of Title III is to help ensure that English learners (ELs) attain English language proficiency and meet state academic standards. Federal funding is provided through various grant programs to assist state education agencies (SEAs) and local education agencies (LEAs) in accomplishing this.

TITLE IX -  Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX states that:

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

TITLE X -  McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act

McKinney-Vento is the primary piece of federal legislation dealing with the education of children and youth experiencing homelessness in U.S. public schools.
