Town Hall a Success!

March 5, 2014

The February 25th Town Hall Meeting was a big success. We had over 60 in attendance and were able to have a good discussion. We received input about possible future offerings in our Career and Technical Education (CTE) or shop programs. Some ideas were expanding to include automotive (including smog control and diagnostic training), robotics (possibly tied to our exciting engineering courses), welding and metalworking, and possibly even culinary arts.

We also took names of those interested in participating in a district task force to research that feasibility of a four day school week. We have NOT made any decisions concerning this option, but do need to find out if it would be beneficial to our students and their learning. If you are interested in participating in the task force or following this discussion please contact the district office.

On a final note, the Vernonia School board also accepted input at the meeting on superintendent qualifications and will be making an announcement concerning the district’s next superintendent during their regularly scheduled board meeting at 6 pm on March 13.
