July 2013 VEF Board Update

July 19, 2013

The Vernonia Education Foundation Board recently met in a regular meeting. They spent a considerable amount of time discussing various policies that they are considering adopting. This represents a significant step forward for the foundation as this group of dedicated community members and VHS alumni strive to make an impact on the financial well-being of the district and, eventually,  individual students. The foundation was established to accept donations toward the new school and has been instrumental in helping the district begin to repay our construction loans. Once these obligations are met the foundation will then work to  provide scholarships for students and funding for special programs in the district.

The most important discussion of the meeting was centered around preparations for the upcoming Give Back Bash that is part of this year’s Vernonia Friendship Jamboree on August 3rd. Through the efforts of two VHS alumni (class of 1973) we will all have the chance to see one of the World’s Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist, Justin Shandor and his fabulous band. They will be presenting two concerts to benefit the Vernonia Education Foundation (VernoniaSchools.org) for athletic facilities. For more information please check out the Events page on our website.
